Before Dr Dre was doing the scary gangster in black thing with NWA, he was making beats for an electro group called the World Class Wreckin’ Cru, along with DJ Yella who also worked with NWA. Terry McDermott has written an awesome article about the LA scene at the time and the origins of Ruthless Records which is definitely worth a read if you’re a fan of hip hop or 80s music in general.

World Class Wreckin’ Cru – The Fly:

I really dig that 80s electro-rap sound, and I recently found this mix, which definitely sounds dated but that’s the whole appeal really. Tuff is the word that springs to mind.
